Be Very Leary Of 'Prophetic' Shemitah Date Setting By Men

Be Very Leary Of 'Prophetic' Shemitah Date Setting By Men

As of late, I have developed a healthy concern for some of my Christian brothers and sisters in Christ who have currently been swept away by pastors and others who are predicting a specific date where by allegedly the United States will suffer a great financial collapse this coming September 13th, 2015.

Not all are giving specific dates of an economic collapse here but in some way are all pointing to the  "Shemitah" which "the Shemitah year, or the Jewish Sabbatical year is set to begin on September 24, 2014, on Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The Shemitah is the seventh year in the seven year agricultural calendar of Israel. According to the Torah, personal debts were to be waived and a sort of financial reset occurred in ancient Israel during the Shemitah. Time was set aside for the nation to rest and devote themselves to worshipping and fellowshipping with God. Disobedience to the Shemitah law brought God’s judgment! (Exodus 23; 10-11, 2 Chronicles 36:20-23)" will indeed bring judgement against this nation between later 2015 and into 2016, for ignoring that Jewish Biblical mandate. Probably the most famous of all who expound on such theories is  Jonathan Cahn, the famous Rabbi of a Messianic Jewish Church in New Jersey, and writer of the best selling book, "The Harbinger", who are not giving specific dates when the economic disaster will hit America, but are stating that the economic collapse will indeed hit America sometime between late 2015 and in 2016. http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/2014/September24/241.html.

Personally, I believe that The Shemitah is an interesting Biblical account and application to study. However, those in America that preach such Biblical applications as the Shemitah may be leading people astray. Giving specific dates as to any future date that God would do anything, must always be met first with very serious Biblical scrutiny. Think of all those in the past that have predicted Jesus' return and have all failed. Christians should always be very cautious when being advised by anyone that a future event will take place on a specific date. It is sad and unfortunate that so many U.S Christians have only to simply read their Bibles, to discount those who have in the past predicted such things as Jesus's alleged return for His church. Had those millions of Christians who in the past were falsely and easily led away with this unbiblical rumor of Christ's return on a specific date had actually read read Mark 13:32, they would have saved themselves a lot of pain and embarrassment. In fact, I am writing this article to rescue many from the similar fate of being in pain and embarrassed in the future as well. We need to learn the lessons of the past from whom so many have indeed suffered for their failure to heed the Biblical warnings in being wise and aware of wolves that can draw people away from Christ and the Bible. Do you remember Jack van Impe's relentless claim in 1999 that through years of Biblical research, he had miraculously found that Jesus was going to return in the year 2000? No? How about the collapse of America that James Dobson and his frequent on-air radio program guests predicted for January 1, 2000 all because he and others on his program predicted computers and other electronic hardware in America were only allegedly programmed to December 31, 1999. Maybe you don't remember that either. OK, how about this, do you remember Harold Camping's past on-air radio program failed predictions of Christ's return on Jewish Holidays in 1994, 2011 and 2012? Have we learned our lesson yet not to get caught up in unbiblcal future specific date setting ? Yes Christians claiming Biblical knowledge that a particular event is going to occur sometime in the future on a specific date most certainly not only makes that person look bad when the prediction is wrong, but it also makes them look incredible as well. As if the world isn't already filled with false prophets, Christians do not need to be yet conned into falling for yet again another supposed event that will most likely not occur on a specific date.

Oh, I know I will be sent hate mail for giving Biblical warning to folks to not be caught up in specific dates of Christ's return, nor of when God Himself is going to bring wrath and judgement against the United States. I mean, we all know that God is indeed already bringing wrath and judgement here and things will get worse in the USA unless many Americans repent. Indeed, we who truly know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour know and can see this. In fact, the world is quite aware matters are getting worse as well. In fact many unbelievers in Christ can see an economic crisis for this nation coming soon as well. It is the world as well as the Christian who has been paying attention to economic affairs of this nation that has seen the value of the US Dollar being over inflated, stock prices are also over inflated, the American economy has been artificially stimulated and supported by the Federal Reserve(which is not a Government entity) by purposely keeping the prime lending interest rate low. In fact, there is a long and lengthy list of economic issues here that most certainly looks like our economy will indeed crash very soon, whether a "Shemitah" event or not. However, no one Is setting a specific date when the economy will crash here, only some Christians that have large ministries who by making predictions such as The Shemitah Event and collapse of America's economy, stand to make a lot of money selling their books and by making public appearances.

Here's the bottom line, can one simply use the Shemitah to give a specific future date of collapse of this nation, most likely not. There has been especially a lot of predicting of supposed future events since the release of the Book, "The Bible Codes" in 1997. Millions purchased that book and there have even been sequel books to follow, but many who bought the initially published book, have lost interest in the book because many of the specific dates and events that were predicted in the book had all proven to be untrue. Let's be honest here, not even the best market analyzer, nor Bible Scholar can predict a future event for a specific date. Why ? Because God's ways are not our ways(Isaiah 55:8). God also chooses to use the foolish things to confound the wise(1Corinthians 1:27). We who are wise in the Lord recognize the times we live in as Jesus said for us to do, but specific date setting for a particular date, is a very dangerous thing to do.

Those who read their Bibles most certainly can come up with Biblical theories and precepts and may end up, and be ultimately true. The issue once again however is this, do we also have a real Biblical basis, also heard specifically from the Spirit of God, and as well, confirmed by His people to have the ability to make a prediction of a particular future event on a specific date? Many Christan's have made claim to have heard from God, even conformed supposedly by others that what they heard was trued, but in the end, were wrong and failed. Remember, and or know this, it is common knowledge that It was even the early believers of Christ in the First Century A.D. who believed Jesus was returning during their lifetime. They were wrong even though many believed and thought for sure that they were correct. You see, even though we are true believers in Jesus of the Bible, if we are not careful, we also can be swept up in hysteria, other people's wrongly held predictions, and ultimately become embarrassed. Worse of all however, we can, and will not only be embarrassed if that event does not take place on a specific date as we said it would, we also will lose our Christian witness before the world if we are not careful and for that, we will be accountable before God.

So before you draw out all your money from the bank, and you instead start buying gold, silver and preparing for America's economic collapse on September 13th, 2015, may I instead suggest that you stock up on extra food, water, toilet paper and other essentials today as a way to plan and prepare for the future in general. I too see disaster coming to this nation, especially in light of all the sins of commission and omission that transpire here. We that belong to Christ know something bad is about to occur here, but when and where ? I say only the Lord knows. His plans are not our plans, and as it is declared in the Holy Bible in 2Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

I say, "Be like a Boy Scout, and be prepared", but please, don't get caught up in the date setting predictions of alleged God made disasters that will fall upon our, or any nation. The world is watching and listening to you.
